This position is responsible for the overall administration, program management and public representation of the Agency. The Executive Director plans, implements, directs, organizes, monitors and evaluates all Agency programs to ensure consistency with the philosophy and goals of the Agency as established by the Board of Directors.

Essential Job Functions
• Work with the Board to develop a clear vision, mission and strategic plan for the organization.
• Translate the organization’s strategic plan into operating objectives and exercise a leadership role in
implementing the mission and plans of the organization.
• Provide advice to the President of the Board, the Board of Directors and Board committees on all matters
pertaining to Board responsibilities.
• Manage the operational and support activities of the agency.
• Ensure the adequacy and soundness of the agency’s accounting and financial structure.
• Oversee the preparation of the annual budget for presentation, discussion and Board approval;
• Ensure the agency maintains accurate financial records and operates in compliance with generally accepted
accounting practices;
• Monitor financial reports to ensure the agency is operating in conformance with established budgets.
• Research and seek various sources of financial support for the agency including private and public grants, fees
for service and charitable contributions.
• Develop and/or coordinate the preparation, submission, acceptance and implementation of grant proposals.
Manage grant awards to comply with granting agency regulations.
• Work with the board and development staff to formulate and implement fund raising programs to improve the
agency’s resources.
• Maintain an organizational climate that attracts, motivates and retains high quality staff by implementing
progressive human resources policies and practices. Recruit, guide, develop and coach the management team.
• Ensure programs meet goals and objectives of the agency and delivery of services is efficient and effective.
• Promote the Agency’s programs, goals, objectives and client concerns in meetings with public and private
• Function as Agency spokesperson; Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease
and related disorders (ADRD);
• Report progress, issues and problems to the Board of Directors. Personally or through staff, support Board
committees, provide timely notification of Board and committee meetings and assure the minutes of Board and
committee meetings accurately reflect action.
• Ensure the agency’s property and equipment is maintained, insured and secured.
• Ensure compliance with all agency’s policies, standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications
• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in business administration, public administration or a human service
field, behavioral science or related area.
• Minimum of five years’ administrative experience at executive or supervisory level.
• Ability to pass a state and federal criminal background check.
• Valid Alaska driver’s license with a good driving record and proof of auto insurance.

• Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of management and administration.
• Demonstrated ability in planning and implementation of programs and services.
• Knowledge of health care or social service systems.
• Ability to direct, supervise and evaluate personnel.
• Ability to prepare complex reports, grants and budgets.
• Ability to work effectively with staff, Board, public and private officials, and the general public.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to anticipate, identify, organize and analyze growth opportunities
• Ability to analyze information and make timely, appropriate decisions.
• Ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff and external contacts to build and maintain successful teams.
• High level of integrity, diplomacy and initiative.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate computers and other office equipment.
• Ability to drive, and to use personal vehicle for Agency business.

Physical and Special Requirements
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Ability to travel as needed to perform job duties.
